Our Community of Interest
Does anyone here know the story of how http://www.williamj*neschastity.com became a place-holder site for assorted BDSM-oriented firms instead of the virtual representative of a functioning business?
Re: Our Community of Interest
What happened is probably that the previous owner did not pay the yearly fee for the domain name*. It then became available for anyone to acquire and it was acquired by a domain spammer.
The domain spammer turns the website into a simple page showing nothing but generated advertising. The only reason for using the mentioned domain for this is that it has traffic, he has no interest in chastity or what the website was previously used for. There are still lot of websites that link to williamj0neschastity.com and there are still some people visiting it expecting to find the original website. These visitors are what the domain spammer wants and are the only reason for acquiring the domain name. Visits = profits. If the domain has no visits then the domain spammer would have no interest in the domain. By linking to the domain in your post you actually helped the spammer increase his visits.
The number of visits per day to the mentioned website is probably very few but this is no big concern as the domain spammer typically holds thousands or tens of thousands domain name that he use in the same manner. The total visits quickly add up to very substantial numbers and profits.
*This is not completely correct but one could simplify by saying that you never own a domain name. It is only rented and the rent will have to be paid each year in order not to lose the right to it. It is very easy to lose a domain name and it is often impossible to get it back, at least without paying what the new holders wants for it.

Re: Our Community of Interest
Celebrating the founders is one way of affirming community. For us in the Community of Interest in Female chastity, the Grand Old Men are John Harold Higginbottom and William A. Jones.
John Harold "Hal" Higginbottom was born 7 April 1931, and died at Northern General Hospital in Sheffield 22 May 1997, of a respiratory ailment and a broken heart. (Broken heart? He was a blue-ribbon Bisley shooter. The abominable Labour government had just totally outlawed civilian possession of handguns on the wave of managed hysteria after the Dunblane outrage.) During his lifetime, he was the world's reigning authority on external control of female chastity.
William A. Jones' birthday is 2 September. I do not know what year, but I do know he was in his eighties(!) when he died.
Both of these men believed in what they were doing: Building chastity belts was a labor of love for both, and they equally sincerely cared for the women who wore their products.
On the dates specified above, it is proper to lift a glass in a toast to absent friends.

Re: Our Community of Interest
Very true. Today the internet is filled with chastity belts in all forms and styles, those two did a great job developing and propagating chastity belts before the times of the net. The chastity belt we would surely not be where it is today if it were not for them. (Together with a number of other individuals not mentioned here.)Robert Pinkerton wrote:For us in the Community of Interest in Female chastity, the Grand Old Men are John Harold Higginbottom and William A. The importance of this can not be stressed enough. If you do not care for the individual who is going to use it, you do not care for the product you make. And if you do not care for the product you make, you should not be making it. A real chastity belt is a work of love and pride.Robert Pinkerton wrote:and they equally sincerely cared for the women who wore their products.

John Harold Higginbottom -- Mr. H or "Uncle Hal" -- died sixteen years ago today. Let us raise a glass to his memory. May the Gods grant him a favorable next incarnation.
